Störsignal Percussion Duo

„Störsignal“, german for interference signal, is an electrified impulse in a jumble of information. Such interferences can disturb and impair perception on the one hand, but on the other hand encourage closer listening and draw attention to ”intermediate tones.“ This definition is part of the duos musical thinking and is reflected in the choice of repertoire and artistic collaboration the group is perpetually pushing into new directions.

The Störsignal Percussion Duo was founded in 2014 by Vera Seedorf and David Cariano Timme while studying at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. Since then, the two percussionists have been working intensively on works of contemporary- and theatrical/performance based music, thus achieving a common musical precision and interplay at a high level.

Already in 2014, the young duo reached the final of the competition for the Possehl Music Prize. As a result, they became scholarshipholders of the series “MusikErkennen”, which enabled them to perform numerous performances. Apart from active concert activity in the Schleswig-Holstein region, including at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the ensemble was also able to inspire young composers for new commissioned compositions.

Since 2015, the ensemble’s path has also taken us further to northern Europe, where David Timme completed his master’s degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and has since moved to Norway. With performances in their two (elected) home countries Germany and Norway they explore not only musical boundaries but also global.

Recently the duo created a concert in the Werner Otto Hall of the Konzerthaus Berlin.

Get drawn into a percussion concert like you’ve seldom seen or heard, and move along the border between performance and art music with this electrifying duo.
